Setting the Stage: Film & TV Projects in Waterloo Region
Over the last decade, the diverse and historic architecture and rich, scenic vistas of our four seasons have made our region the ideal backdrop for film and television projects. A number of TV Series have chosen Cambridge as a site including Nikita, Murdoch Mysteries, Discovery Channel, Cineflix and Rogers Daytime TV.

There have also been feature length Film and TV projects that have chosen to shoot projects in our Region including:

Feature Films
  • The Rescuers (1999) starring Elizabeth Perkins, Martin Landau and Anne Bancroft was filmed in Downtown Cambridge around the Main St. Bridge and Queen's Square
  • Haven (2000) starring Natasha Richardson was filmed at an historic stone building on Concession Street
  • John Q (2000) starring Denzel Washington was filmed in the Babcock & Wilcox plant
  • The In-Laws (2002) starring Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks chose the Main Street bridge and Southworks as a film site
  • Cold Creek Manor (2002) starring Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone was shot at the Cruickston Park Estate
  • Homie Spumoni (2005) with Whoopi Goldberg, Donald Faison and Jamie-Lynn Sigler was filmed at Mill Race Park
  • Silent Hill 2 (2011) a horror film featuring Sean Bean, Carrie-Anne Moses and Malcolm McDowell was filmed in Downtown Cambridge including the Main Street Bridge and Market Square


Made-for-TV Movies
  • Son of Mistletoe was filmed on Main Street in 2001
  • Big Spender starring Canadian actor Graham Green was filmed in 2002
  • St. Ralph featuring Jennifer Tilly and Cambridge's own Adam Butcher was shot with the Downtown as a backdrop in 2003
  • Celine was shot in East Galt area of Cambridge in 2007
